Rocky Mountain Instrument update:
As many of you know, RMI filed for Chapter 11 Reorganization on 06/23/09. I wanted to take this opportunity to let our clients know about our current position and the circumstances behind our decision. This was, without a doubt, one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make in the 50 year history of our company.

RMI has retained the legal services of Holland & Hart LLP to help the company enhance its compliance program to meet and even exceed the complex regulations related to U.S. import and export laws, specifically the ITAR (International Trade in Arms Regulations).

In response to numerous questions and concerns regarding the investigation, RMI released a letter to key customers, vendors and business partners. The one-page letter explains that the investigation is limited in scope and that the government is working with RMI to minimize disruptions to the operation, as evidenced by the quick return of key documents and operational software. RMI has received a $250,000 follow-on order from a major U.S. defense contractor for the Thermal Weapons Sight Program. We are pleased to continue to demonstrate our unique capabilities in delivering large production and prototype orders for tight tolerance, mission-critical components.

On the morning of October 11, Federal Authorities began an on-site investigation of Rocky Mountain Instrument’s procedures.
The Company is fully cooperating with the investigation. No accusations or arrests have been made, and the company is back in operation today.

The bombing campaigns have been predominantly restricted to
military-related sites in Iraq, using the smart bombs made famous in
the Gulf War. The weapons rely on laser-guided technology to pinpoint
targets as small as a doorway from the cockpit of a combat jet. Much of
the accuracy of the laser-guided missiles depends on the lenses of the
laser.

awarded a $2.2M contract with TEXTRON Systems.
