Over the years, Rocky Mountain Instrument Company has invested enormous time and effort to establish complete in-house Optical Design and Assembly capabilities. By not relying on outside sources, we can more effectively serve our customers through better quality and cost controls and by ensuring timely delivery.

RMI assembly personnel have the most diverse experience in the industry. Working closely with you, our engineers develop the fastest and most efficient ways to assemble and test your design. Whether it is bonding simple beamsplitter cubes or manufacturing complex custom or build-to-print assemblies from ultraviolet through far infrared, we meet every challenge.
Our in-house ability to “do it all” – designing fixtures, testing optical alignment, or developing proprietary assembly techniques – allows RMI to react rapidly and effectively to the design and production demands of even the most difficult assemblies.
Our custom assembly experience includes a wide range of applications such as night vision systems, FLIR, medical and laser surgical instruments, industrial lasers for marking, cutting and welding, optical information storage systems, imaging systems for satellites, cameras, telescopes, and microscopes, laser imaging systems, and laser range-finding and target designator systems for the military.
Complete performance and environmental testing are performed to the most stringent military and customer specifications. From individual components to large quantity system assemblies, all projects are completed with exacting attention to detail.
Class 1000 clean room
Recognizing the increasing demand for sterile bonded optical assemblies, RMI’s 2006 expansion plan included the construction of a brand new clean room for the manufacturing of precision assemblies. Certified as a Class 1000 clean room, this area is fully equipped with precision assembly flow benches (Class 100) and HEPA filters to minimize dust, and other contaminants.
