Sales Support Admin

Rocky Mountain Instrument, CO is looking for a sales support admin who pays attention to detail and enjoys interacting with a fast paced sales team and customers. This person will play a vital role assisting the sales team to communicate daily with key customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing Purchase Orders and performing data entry of sales orders into MAS.
  • Audit quote information to match Sales Order in Salesforce. Then, checking discrepancies with Sales Engineer before processing.
  • File Master Folders upon the creation and completion of all jobs.
  • Process change orders for Sales Order changes. Editing orders for price, nomenclature and specifications as necessary.
  • File ITAR restricted and unrestricted documentation, drawing, and customer files for full job cycle.
  • Screen Customers using Visual Compliance and report any suspicious findings to regulatory.
  • Request credit references from customers to establish terms for accounting.
  • Receive and respond to customer request for order status.
  • Respond to the customer for order confirmation, shipping data, and information needed for export.
  • Enter New Customer Information and New Part Information while also updating pre-existing customer information and part information.
  • Distribute RMA numbers for rework jobs. Input rework and invalid return information into Salesforce and MAS.
  • Receive web site/sales inquiries via e-mail and distribute them to Sales Engineers.
  • Assist Sales Staff in finding vital information such as drawings, folders, scans, and quality control information.
  • Update daily sales figures.
  • Compile monthly statistical analysis of current sales bookings, and other reports when asked.
  • Provide assistant for light duties at the reception desk during assigned times. Help with coverage upon the absence of the receptionist.

Education and/or Experience          

  • 3-4 years of experience in a data entry role.      
  • Experience with SalesForce and/or MAS 90 is desired.                                 
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training.

Diamond Turning Machinist

Rocky Mountain Instrument, Co. seeks an experienced Diamond Turning Machinist for manufacturing precision optics in a fast-paced environment. The technician must be familiar with operating computer controlled diamond turning machinery, tooling, and setups.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce optical quality components by loading, aligning, reviewing, and modifying setup parameters on a diamond turning machine.
  • Evaluate test data and results using proprietary software tools.
  • Provides metrology support for production and prototyping tools.
  • Ensure proper operation of equipment and as-needed maintenance.
  • Work in coordination with production to ensure quality through excellent manufacturing processes and actively participate in quality improvements. Also works closely with the team of machinists, test and metrology technicians and software engineers.
  • Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems including design and necessary modifications of the mechanical (non-optical) features during design release phase.
  • Performs fixture design and drafting to support machine shop
  • Assist in the implementation of RMI Diamond Turning strategic objectives.


  • Working experience with design in CAD software packages
  • Experience with mechanical design tools and instrumentation
  • Experience with optical/mechanical tolerance
  • Basic optical/mechanical metrology knowledge
  • Possess a keen level of detail, giving focus on accuracy
  • Strong technical writing and verbal skills


  • 2-3 years of experience in diamond turning fabrication desired
  • Experience in fabrication, machine shop or clean room environments and procedures
  • Knowledge of contact and non-contact profilometry a plus
  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and quality control principles desirable
  • Previous experience with hand tools such as micrometers, calipers and optical laboratory microscopes is required.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills, understanding of precision machined surfaces, and geometry is required.
  • Experience using CAM software is preferred.
  • Optical component, system alignment, and assembly experience is a plus.
